Day 1

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi

Moshi :
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. In the evening, you will meet your expert mountain guide for a pre-trek briefing and equipment check to ensure you have all the necessary gear. Any missing items can be rented on this day.

Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Elevation: 1,640m to 2,850m
Distance: 11 km (7 miles)
Time: 5–7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Begin your journey through the misty rainforest, alive with birds and monkeys. After completing park formalities at Machame Gate, hike steadily through vegetation-rich trails. By late afternoon, you'll arrive at Machame Camp, nestled in a forest clearing.

Day 2

Machame Camp to Shira Camp 2

Distance: 5 km (3 miles)
Elevation: 2,850m to 3,810m
Time: 4–7 hours
Habitat: Moorland
Highlight: Entering Shira Plateau with stunning views of Kibo Peak. Today's path climbs through heather and volcanic ridges toward Shira Plateau, revealing jaw-dropping vistas. Cross the valley floor to Shira Camp 2, where you'll enjoy open skies and your first real glimpse of Kilimanjaro’s glaciers.

Day 3

Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Distance: 10km
Elevation Gain: 3,810m to 4,600m (Lava Tower), then descend to 3,960m
Habitat: Alpine desert
Highlight: Acclimatization climb to Lava Tower, descent to Barranco Ascend to the dramatic Lava Tower (a 300 ft volcanic formation) where thin air tests your body. After lunch at high altitude, descend into the Barranco Valley, surrounded by the famous giant groundsel trees.

Day 4

Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley Camp

Distance :5 km (3 miles)
Elevation: 3,960m to 4,035m
Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Highlight: Conquering the Great Barranco Wall.
The day starts with a scramble up the Great Barranco Wall—a thrilling 900 ft climb with surreal views. After crossing glacial valleys, you'll reach Karanga Camp, perched atop the valley ridge.

Day 5

Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp

Distance: 4 km (2 miles)
Elevation: 4,035m to 4,673m
Time: 4–5 hours
Habitat: Alpine desert
Highlight: Final ascent to base camp with sunset views over Mawenzi.
Climb steadily toward Barafu Camp, the final stop before the summit. From here, you'll witness the glaciers glowing under the sunset. Rest early; your midnight ascent awaits.

Day 6

Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Distance: 17km
Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m
then descend to 3,100m
Time: 11–15 hours
Habitat: Arctic to rainforest
Highlight: Reaching the Roof of Africa at sunrise.
At midnight, begin your ascent under a canopy of stars. Pass Stella Point (5,756m) just before dawn. Reach Uhuru Peak to watch the sunrise from the continent’s highest point. After photos and celebration, descend through scree and moorland to Mweka Camp.

Day 7

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, Transfer to Moshi

Distance: 10 km (7 miles)
Elevation:3,100m to 1,640m
Time: 3–4 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Highlight: Emotional finale through Kilimanjaro’s lush forest Descend through green canopies and muddy trails. At Mweka Gate, collect your certificate. Your driver will meet you for transfer back to Moshi.
