In the first blush of morning, dhows crowd the horizon and Stone Town wakes with the scent of cloves. Whether you’re chasing sunlit beaches, cultural encounters or underwater spectacles, Zanzibar Island delivers — with flair. Ready to explore?

Getting There

You’ll most commonly fly into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) from Dar es Salaam or international hubs. Alternatively, ferries from Dar es Salaam or Pemba are scenic and affordable. Once landed, taxis and hotel transfers will whisk you to Stone Town or beach resorts. For a breezy island hop, domestic flights link Zanzibar with nearby safari hubs:

Size and Geography

Zanzibar Island (Unguja) spans roughly 1,666 square kilometres. It’s compact yet diverse; drive times are short, and you can move from history-rich alleys to remote beach coves within an hour or two. That makes it perfect for varied itineraries without wasting time on transit.

 Climate

Tropical and balmy, Zanzibar features two rainy seasons: short rains (Nov–Dec) and long rains (Mar–May). Peak dry months run June to October and January to February. Expect warm days, humid evenings, and cooling sea breezes — pack light layers and sun protection.
